“Indian weddings have traditionally been considered a marriage of two families, rather than just a marriage of the bride and groom” – and the reason why we quote this beautiful statement here is that our cute little love story has been a tale of 2 states with a Punjabi Munda falling in for a Gujju girl, minus all the melodrama.
So Ishani shares, it all started from our college unknowingly and in an unplanned way, trust me it was only until last few weeks before we concluded college, did we experience an epiphany that we were madly and irrevocably in love with each other. Like many, our story also went through the phase of “from being acquaintances, friends and best friends to a romantic couple”. Just with a little change here – we never stopped being best friends and that was the best part of all.
Amidst the long-distance, work-life, responsibilities, maturity – our solidarity continued to stay and we both evolved and grew together. Soon enough, we decided that it was the right time for us to take this paradise to “our forever and happily after” and we expressed our desire to be together to our families, who were more than happy for us to have found our life partners. That day changed everything, and we felt extremely grateful to those million stars who prayed for this to happen, for this was a dream come true moment for us.
“One of the most cheerful people I have ever met in life, this lady has the power to bring a huge smile on my face no matter what the situation. She radiates happiness and joy everywhere she goes. She is the perfect blend of beauty, confidence, and charisma. She is extremely loving and caring and would run an extra mile just to ensure you are okay. Everything feels complete with her around.” said Abhinav when asked about the qualities he likes about Ishani.
“Abhinav is one of the most humble, genuine, and down to earth souls, I have ever known. He understands and values things that matter to me and respects my beliefs and value system. He is very thoughtful and patient and handles responsibility with utmost maturity – something which continues to inspire me every day. Together we help each other evolve into a better version of ourselves and that is the best part of our relationship. He is my happy place!” Ishani happily shares the qualities which make her fall for Abhinav.
The Proposal
As a couple, they never had a filmy proposal, and all we came to know Ishani always dreamt to have one such. So Abhinav couldn’t find any better day than her a birthday 11 January as it was an extra special day of her life. There were no second thoughts on the décor – she loved outdoorsy, “amongst the woods”, fairy lights all-around – kind of date nights,. With a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of red roses, her favorite chocolate chip cake on the table, balloons filled with cute little chits all around, and soft music in the background, Abhinav had planned balloons filled with chits that had messaged of the loved ones. Each popping out of balloons made her more emotional and blessed with the wishes, the last balloon she popped out had a RING. Before she could say anything, he took her to the adjacent setting and as they walked through, the path was lit up on both sides with fairy lights and candles. Abhinav described,” I knew this was my moment – I bent down on one knee, held the ring out as the fairy lights suddenly started glowing and popped up that One Question: MARRY ME?
Abhinav narrated,
I saw her familiar wide smile, that warmth and that heart-pounding – we saw us forever in that one blink of an eye, and finally, SHE SAID YES!!
Haldi
Haldi is Often referred to as the “Pithi” ceremony in Gujarat, this is one of the most important pre-wedding rituals where Haldi (Turmeric) is applied to the bride and groom by family, friends and close relatives, as a heavenly gesture of blessing the couple before the wedding. We went for a complete floral décor having a beautiful backdrop for this event and chose, in particular, two colors – yellow and orange which resonated with the overall theme of “Haldi” and went beautifully well with the dress code for the occasion. Pithi was celebrated at home with few friends and family members.
Mehendi
Mehendi, yet another pre-wedding function, where the family members of the bride and groom greet and bless the couple, post which the ladies get Mehendi applied on their palms. This event was given a lounge feel and seating arrangements were made within a big gazebo with colorful drapes and decorations. It was an event full of fun, laughter, music, dance, food, and games as each one sat down for a dollop of Mehendi on their hands. The couple entry was made extremely fun and peppy with color bombs lit throughout the way making them dance on the tunes of Cutie Pie.
Sangeet
One of the most talked-about pre-wedding events, Sangeet Sandhya marked a crazy celebration as two families came together to cherish a new beginning. The event commenced with a Flash mob entry, for and with the power couple. The celebration included dance performances by families, relatives, and friends of the bride and groom, songs by elder members of the family, and an open dance floor with DJ to commemorate the merriment for the following days. The allure of shimmer, glitter, and lights was the perfect kick start they wanted, to have everyone rolling in the fun mode for the night long madness.
The Wedding Day
A very picturesque dream wedding venue located in a happening neighborhood with fabulous entrance passage and an equally decorative layout with a scintillating decoration that spoke perfect blend of elegance, glamor, and piousness – just what was required for their special day.
One of the major highlights of the venue was the beautiful Stage cum Chauri for the couple that gave off the vibes of a truly heavenly abode with the sumptuous grandeur of the entire venue taking our breath away. The Jal Tarang music in the background gave unparalleled experience to the entire wedding festivities.
The most awaited day in anybody’s life – a day that unites the heart and soul of not just two people but two families – it was magical, it was divine, it was emotional, it was exhilarating, it was resplendent, it was LARGER than LIFE – simply put, it was a carnival of unforgettable moments and impeccable euphoria. The aura of opulence and gracefulness of the night was carved out beautifully in 7 main rituals – starting with Baarat Aagman, Jaimala, Pre-wedding reception, Bridal entry in Foolon ki chaadar, Mangal Pheras, Sindoor & Mangal Sutra ceremony, and Bidaai Rasam. It was magnificent beyond imagination and in that one evening the couple witnesses a roller coaster of emotions. The décor bespoke royalty and elegance and it couldn’t get any dreamier – it was pure bliss to have their entire family, relatives, and friends come together to celebrate this beautiful beginning of THEIR whole new world. No wonder they said getting married to your best friend is the best feeling in the world.
