“We met for the first time in grad school. Despite being in the batch, we did not notice each other at first. We slowly started running in the same circle. It started as friendly chitchat but quickly turned into hours of texting and long walks. I still remember that day, after a late-night hangout at a friend’s place instead of going back to our apartments we went for a walk. We lost track of time and kept walking for hours till the next morning. Whenever we were together we would forget everything else. Things just felt right! ” said Devanshee, when asked how they met.

As they moved to 2 different cities for summer internships they realised how close friendship had really grown. They spent the last few days doing almost everything together before flying out. It was evident in a week of separation that this is meant to be and they started a long-distance relationship. They finally got united for a few months during last semester. Vinit then moved away and after almost 2 years they got reunited when Devanshee also moved to Seattle.

“Fast forward 5 years, Vinit planned a trip to Vegas on my birthday. It was like any other trip. We stayed at Bellagio. Spent the day on the strip. Had lunch at Hell’s Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay. Then he took me to Eiffel Tower restaurant at Paris Las Vegas for dinner. As we sat there watching the Bellagio fountains, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring box and got down on one knee. Truly surprised me who was expecting a birthday gift coming out of his blazer pocket, could not stop the tears and instantly said yes!!” said Devanshee about their proposal story.
